Inside Out is an education charity created to improve the wellbeing of young children through mindfulness, nature and horses.Our purpose is to inspire children to be happy, inside and out, through a whole-school culture of wellbeing. Because happy children learn better. Towards this purpose, Inside Out provides magical experiences, resources and training, supported by our Happiness Index wellbeing tracking.

At Inside Out, we address the growing childhood mental health crisis with a fun and effective, experiential programme for schools.

We are a young and ambitious charity, currently at a very exciting time in our development. To date we have reached 1000 children in Berkshire and Oxfordshire primary schools. Inside Out has a ‘Roots for Growth – 2020 Vision’ Strategy Plan, to deliver a whole-school approach to wellbeing through an Inside Out School Accreditation programme – the first wellbeing accreditation of its kind. By working with a focussed number of schools and demonstrating our long-term impact, the Strategy Plan will provide a solid foundation for future scalability and a clear model for national expansion of Inside Out.

Job Title: Inside Out Intern [either home or office-based, 1 day a week, min. 3-month commitment]

Job Purpose: To assist the CEO with a range of activities to deliver the 2020 Vision – Strategy Plan, linked to goals to Develop our Programme, Build our Brand and Community and Measure our Impact.

  • External communications – Developing social media channels, updating website, writing blog posts and email newsletters.
  • School research and marketing – Building database of schools within catchment, developing the Inside Out School Accreditation campaign.
  • Fundraising – Finding potential funders and volunteers, organising fundraising events.
  • School relationship management – Developing existing school partnerships, administering our Happiness Index impact measurement tool, and a chance to see Magical Days Out in action!

Person specification:

Must: be enthusiastic about the importance of education and wellbeing; be personable, professional and adaptable; have computer literacy skills, good written and verbal communication.

May: have experience in working with schools, analysing data, social media skills, organising events.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience: Will have the ability to work independently and in teams; show excellent organisational skills; demonstrate and embody Inside Out values.

Further details: This is a flexible, volunteer position with travel expenses paid.Would suit someone exploring a new career in education, mental health or charity/social enterprise. Start date Sept 2018.
